She had to escape the country but realised that the regime who took her brother was closer than she could ever imagine.

On April 28, 1945, life begins again. Hundreds of survivors from the German concentration camps arrive to the harbour of Malmö, Sweden. While they take their first steps in freedom Swedish news photographers film them. Now, 70 years later the survivors are watching this archive footage for the very first time and as they discover themselves they re-experience the emotions from this special day. Moments and scenes also taking place all over the world today.

Expert knowledge explains common issues with identity crisis after you have fled your home, stress, trauma, mourning and being a parent in a new country. A scripted story adds a deeper perspective. The films are produced on behalf of the County Administrative Boards (Länsstyrelserna) to be used in the establishment programme for those who have been granted a Swedish residence permit.
